Mateo Catalan

With over 12 years of professional, competitive dance experience, and even more of teaching, Mateo is an integral part of Arlington Ballroom. As a Mexican American, dance is part of his culture. He has years of training with ballet, jazz, tap, modern, lyrical, contemporary, ballroom, and Latin. Mateo loves having fun on the dance floor, and strives to create an exciting atmosphere that motivates the student to reach their dancing dreams!

Jordan Parker joined us only a few years ago, but we can’t imagine our Dance Company without this valuable member. Their combination of discipline and talent makes them an incredibly special dancer.

Jon Centeno

Dance Instructor

Jon started learning to dance at Dance Factory in the Fall of 2013, where he also met Dmitri and Jennifer B. He was the USA Dance Mid-Atlantic Syllabus Champion in Rhythm and Smooth, and consistently placed in the top five at the USA Dance National Championships. Taking a break from the competition floor in 2017, he began training to become a dance instructor at Dance Studio Lioudmila and made his professional debut in the Spring of 2018. Jon joined Arlington Ballroom in the Fall of 2019, where his dance journey came full circle: meeting Dmitri and Jennifer B as friends in the fall of 2013, and now working together six years later. Jon has worked with students ranging from planning quinceneras to having them feel comfortable social dancing, but he especially loves teaching wedding couples their first dance. His students love the combination of both his humor and positive energy, which helps many of them come out of their shell, get in tune with their dancing, and shine on the dance floor. He can’t wait share his love of dancing with you!

Get ready to be dazzled by the grace and flawless movements of Taylor Quill. As head of the Dance Company, they make sure that all dancers are regularly practicing and perfecting their moves for upcoming performances.

Rabab Iqual

Dance Instructor

Rabab Iqbal has been dancing since she was a girl, beginning with Bollywood and Belly Dancing, and moving to Latin Social dancing and Ballroom later in her dance career. Rabab was with Ferocity Dance Company for three years before moving to Arlington Ballroom in 2021. Her accomplishments include the Liberty Dance Championship in 2020 and World Latin Dance Cup in 2021, along with performing at dance congresses across the country. She enjoys working with students looking to compete, perform, or simply improve their social dancing skills: “The most rewarding part about teaching is seeing my students gain confidence in their own abilities and push themselves beyond what they imagined when they first came into the studio.” Rabab would love to help you realize your dance potential and join the Arlington Ballroom community!

Annie Lu

Annie began ballroom dancing at 17 and started working in a studio at 18. She has danced competitively for the University of Oxford on the UK University circuit. Her desire to dance has taken her from the highways of Washington DC to the famous Winter Gardens of Blackpool to the gymnasiums of Paris to sneaking into the Paramount Ballroom of Shanghai. Wherever she goes, she finds dance to be an infallible medium of communication. As a teacher, her first instructor's words are never far from her mind: "No one is hopeless. No one cannot improve."
